mixed media artist Barbara Kruger


Media artist Barbara Kruger: Famous for layered photographs. She uses lots of reds, blacks, greys, and whites. In her phrases she tends to use lots of pronouns like "I", "we", or "they". She is an American conceptual artist. She was born in New Jersey in 1945. She later left there to go to the Syracuse University. Later she moved to New York where she began to attend the Parson School of Design. She had gone to school with Diane Arbus and Marvin Israel. They were graphic designer and art director for Harpers Bazaar. They had introduced Barbara Kruger to the fashion and magazine sub-cultures and photographers. After one year at this school she left and worked at Mademoiselle magazine industry. She was am entry-level designer and later became a chief designer. In her work she uses text containing sexism and misogyny(hatred against women). She has also created films, videos, adios and projections. Also in 2005, she was honored at the fifty-first Venice Biennale with the "Golden Lion" for her life-time achievement. Currently, she is a professor at the University of California at Los Angeles. That is the mixed media artist Barbara Kruger.
