The site to, in my oppinion was well layed out and was pretty interesting. Although this doesn't quite consist in my interests it was fairly interesting. I liked how you could choose the toy that you wanted to look at rather than just hit many links that are confusing. My favourite toy was the Phenakistoscope. It caught my eye and I thought it was cool. Although modern toys are more technical this still seems like something people of all ages would like.

mixed media artist Barbara Kruger

Media artist Barbara Kruger: Famous for layered photographs. She uses lots of reds, blacks, greys, and whites. In her phrases she tends to use lots of pronouns like "I", "we", or "they". She is an American conceptual artist. She was born in New Jersey in 1945. She later left there to go to the Syracuse University. Later she moved to New York where she began to attend the Parson School of Design. She had gone to school with Diane Arbus and Marvin Israel. They were graphic designer and art director for Harpers Bazaar. They had introduced Barbara Kruger to the fashion and magazine sub-cultures and photographers. After one year at this school she left and worked at Mademoiselle magazine industry. She was am entry-level designer and later became a chief designer. In her work she uses text containing sexism and misogyny(hatred against women). She has also created films, videos, adios and projections. Also in 2005, she was honored at the fifty-first Venice Biennale with the "Golden Lion" for her life-time achievement. Currently, she is a professor at the University of California at Los Angeles. Rococco Red, the colour I chose

Rococco Red, I like this colour because it is vibrant. It represents me because it gives you energy and it is happy. I believe fashion designers should choose colours that resemble people and who they are. I believe they should ask what colours people are into. Depending on the season is the value or intensity of the colour. For example, if it is winter they will where more mellow, soft, dark colours. If it is summer, people wear more bite, enthusiastic colours. They also choose colours that will affect peoples mood. They have to find colours that go well together and people will enjoy.

This is my chess piece that i drew in CyberARTS. We would rearrange the piece until it's on the angle I want. Then I did a rough sketch of the piece. After I did a hard line when I was happy with the shape I got. Then I started to add features. Like the first step, I did a rough sketch, then did a hard line and erased the others. After I did the shading. I couldn't move the chess piece because the light for the shading couldn't change. I found that difficult because of the angle i had it.

I used many different types of line. At first, I used long, rough, light, lines. After when I went over the lines, I did hard, long, precis, lines. Once I got to the detailed drawings for the facial features etc. I used more curvy, jagged, lines. Now for the shading. I used lots and lots of line. I usually used short lines and the amount of darkness depending on the shade. Those are the lines I used.

For my rough sketching I used the 6B pencil. Depending on the darkness on the shade, I would change between pencils. Darkest being 6B, Medium being 2B, and lightest being HB. Those are the three pencils I used.

I made sure that the chess piece stood out the most. I used the most value in the horse. For the background I didn't change the value often in one shape. Although I did use a lot of value through out the drawing.

I am proud of my drawing. All of that time and I think paid off.

Art Piece

This is about the exiting yet simple artist of MAN RAY. The painting I'm writing about is the Rayograph. They are simple yet complex paintings of materials he put together. ENJOY!

Man Ray,
"Rayograph 1928"

Imitationalism: I believe that this piece of art uses the clouds and shapes we see everyday, but he puts them together well so it doesn't look like a photograph. I believe it would look better if it was a mirror image on both sides. Parts of this painting is detailed. For example, the clouds are very detailed. I like this piece of art because it stands out from the others in my opinion.

Emotionalism: In my opinion, the photograph feels confusing although it
doesn't appeal to be confusing. The painting tells me that the artist may have been confused in his life. I think that because of the way the shapes interact.

Formalism: I believe that the painting took thought and took time. It consists of shades, pattern, line, balance, variety, contrast, shape, and space. It shows images of everyday life.

I believe that this is a good piece of art.

The materials he used were: cotton, string, and strips of paper.

This is an example of one of his photograph, although this isn't the exact one i wrote about.
